King Air 350, minimum crew required
Help please; does a N registered Beech King Air 350, (in excess of 12,500lbs) require two crew. The FAA flight manual requires only one pilot. But remembering the JAA and the two typed crew required on "jets" was concerned at the need for two rated crew on King Air 350.

Depends on the operation...EVEN if the 350 is type certified for single pilot ops. Not 100% sure what the JAR says, but would think that you can fly private ops single pilot but all commercial ops requires two pilots....

That was the answer I wanted to hear, all ops totally private, owner needs the short field performance, I want the new upgrade to Jepp view. Any ide when that might be due.

JAR-OPS 1.940 states;
(b) Minimum flight crew for operations under
IFR or at night. For operations under IFR or at night,
an operator shall ensure that:
(1) For all turbo-propeller aeroplanes
with a maximum approved passenger seating
configuration of more than 9 and for all turbojet
aeroplanes, the minimum flight crew is 2 pilots;
or
(2) Aeroplanes other than those covered
by sub-paragraph (b)(1) above are operated by a
single pilot provided that the requirements of
Appendix 2 to JAR-OPS 1.940 are satisfied. If the
requirements of Appendix 2 are not satisfied, the
minimum flight crew is 2 pilots.

However this only applies to JAR public transport operations (Part 135/129/121). The JAA type raring requirements can be found at http://www.jaa.nl/licensing/classtyperatings.html
Your best bet for information on US registered aircraft in UK airspace is likely to be the NBAA who are usually very helpful.

The King Air is conf as 9 seats, and certification is based on FAA rules and 1 pilot.
So I feel confident that for private ops in JAA airspace only one pilot is required.
Under age 60, if passing close to Paris.
Many thanks for all the various inputs, and now we can all rest at night.
However we will operate 2 crew, with type ratings for both.
However the RHS can not claim squatters rights in his logbook.
I stopped single pilot IFR many years ago.

No not if your Manex tells that it is flying with two pilots operations, in that case, the captain logs his hours as captain and the first officer as first officer....But in that case both pilots must have there MCC.....
