A Russian? (all those rivets?)

Karlark 11th January 2012 17:49

Those look like Western rivets to me. :)

Off home shortly, but I have to ask, is their spacing Metric or Imperial??

Karlark 11th January 2012 18:26

I would think the spacing is in inches. :)

sycamore 11th January 2012 19:34

Is it a Wright/Pratt ,and on the wing or fuselage ?

Karlark 11th January 2012 20:04

2X wing mounted P&Ws.

sycamore 11th January 2012 21:05

Possibly a big Cat...a?

Karlark 11th January 2012 21:27

If you mean a Catalina, Sycamore, then possibly it is a conversion of one. Here, maybe a little better view will help. :)

Karlark 11th January 2012 22:35

Yes Sycamore, it is a Consolidated PBY :ok:. This particular one is converted into the "Landseaire" Air-Yacht.

Yeah, I should have made a 'stab' with Curtiss on SC last night. :(

British?

SincoTC 13th January 2012 21:33

Sorry, not British mate!

I should have made a 'stab' with Curtiss on SC last night
Yeah, you should have :p!! Never mind mate, only another 80 mins for a new AQ :)

Noyade 13th January 2012 21:45

You must have spent some time looking for the A-18.......

Curtiss?

SincoTC 13th January 2012 21:56

I managed to crack it im my lunch break, thanks to the lack of dihedral! I didn't actually find a photo, only a previous version, but I put two and two together from Aerofiles info and made eighteen :)

This one isn't a Curtiss, but I did find it looking for the Shrike!!

The intake...

American?
Monoplane?
All metal?
Radial?
Slightly cranked wing?

Fighter?

SincoTC 13th January 2012 22:15

The answer is YES to all except Fighter!

The initial production version had a fixed U/C, but the Challenge aircraft had retractable gear and an uprated P&W Twin Wasp Jr

Noyade 13th January 2012 22:42

A Northrop A-17 on steroids. You're mean mate. :suspect::)
