http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...r640/MS479.jpg |
Spot on!
In fact -too spot on, I'll change my source for silhouettes! It is indeed the M.S. 479 You have control (I think) ....... |
Here is the next silhouette:

Handley Page H. P. 137 / BAe Jetstream?
|
S'land is correct. A Jetstream 32 to be exact. You have control.
|
Thanks Bri. That was an interesting challenge as it really is a silhouette of an actual aircraft, not a drawing. Makes it that bit more difficult.
Anyway, here is the next challenge. http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p...g?t=1217697010 |
Would you believe I've actually seen one of these?
|
RETDPI:
As far as I am aware there is only one left, so I even know where you would have seen it. |
Hawker Woodcock, perchance?
watp,iktch |
Close, but no cigar.
|
Missed the "11" out....Hawker Woodcock11, [I hope]
watp,iktch |
Hawker Danecock. Woodcock had equal span wings whereas the Danecock 's upper wing was slightly greater than the lower wing.
Ciarain. |
Thanks Ciarain, looks like I've made a "cock-up" :uhoh:...so it's your turn.
watp,iktch |
We could be waiting for a while.
|
In that case, to keep things going...................

The Hawker Dancock it is. Three aircraft, based on the Hawker Woodcock, were ordered in 1925 by the Danish Government. Changes were made to the wings and cockpit area. The Danecock was slightly longer than the Woodcock and the lower wing was shorter that the upper wing. The power unit was an Armstrong Sidderly Jaguar IV developing 385 hp. The Danecock first flew in december 1925 and the three aircraft order was delivered in February 1926.
One of the Hawker built aircraft broke the Scandinavian Altitude record. It reached 8598 m. There is a Danish built Dankok in the museum in Copenhagen. http://i347.photobucket.com/albums/p...g?t=1217697297 Ciarain has control (i think). Richard |
Umm... S'land. Your picture is of the Hawker Hawfinch -long gone.
The last Danecock is of course in the Tojhus Museum In Copenhagen.:8 "A Quick One Whilst He's Away" http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u.../sil120001.gif |
NA T28 Trojan...
watp,iktch |
I agree it looks similar to the T-28 Trojan, which looks similar to the Hispano HA-100 Triana, which I think it is.
|
Chiglet.Spot on. The B-58A
Back to you guys. I shall await my turn. Daz |
Umm... S'land. Your picture is of the Hawker Hawfinch -long gone. |
|
T-28 lookalikes.
evans b has it spot on with the Hispano HA-100 Triana. It was designed by Willi Messerschmit's expat team and had the alternative designation Me100 for production in West Germany ( I think the Piagggio 149 won out over it ).
I've been hogging the website again. So I'm opting out on chiglets challenge for the moment. |
Chiglet's challenge
Aermacchi MB.339 ?
|
In a word.....No :E
Clue, the manufacturer designed and built a few "pretty" [to my eyes at least] aeroplanes, especially in late WW11..... watp, iktch |
To me, that looks like the IAR-99 Soim from IAv Craiova in the mid-eighties.
Soim, incidentally, means Hawk - what a coincidence:hmm:. I seem to remember doing a lot of comparison work on various training aircraft, including this one, in the late eighties. Didn't know that the firm was around in the late forties/ fifties, though, romanian aviation history (like so many other subjects) not being one of my strong points. GG |
GG, you have control. [I did think it would have lasted a tad longer...oh hum]
watp,iktch |
Sorry about that Chiglet!
GG, you have control. Try this for size - it looks a bit like the midget love child of a Ju-52 and a Skyvan. http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g1...GafHawk002.jpg GG Must go now, visitors! |
GG
First Impression....You made it up...it looks uglier than I do... Second....I haven't a clue, but I 'll give it a go..... watp,iktch |
GG, Check PMs :ok:
watp,iktch |
Groungripper, I ain't got a clue, but I'd add Transavia (nee Bennett) into the gene pool!
|
In fact is it the Junkavia Shortarse?
|
I believe it's the GAFHawk 125. Original design was a highly reworked Pa-22 Tripacer:eek:
Not to be cocky, but if it is, anyone who wants has control (can't post anything just now) |
I think Jamesel must be right. Wikipedia doesn't have a picture, but does include this sentence:
Certification proved elusive, however, and Hawk eventually abandoned the project without building any other examples. I didn't know there was an aesthetic requirement in certification. |
Found it on Google, but with a radial engine...
watp, iktch ps I,m using a friends account ar work :ok: |
Jamesel is correct - GafHawk 125 it is. Over to anyone who can for the next exciting episode, I haven't got anything to hand at present.
OK, OK did anyone else spot my deliberate mistake, right click on the picture and select properties? I must remember not to include the name of the d@#ned aircraft in the file name. That's what comes of doing it in a rush. Doh!!:{ GG |

Aerospace CT-4A Airtrainer?
|
Sorry, it's not.
