Geoff Goodall and Joe Baugher RIP

I expect there are people on here who, like me, refer frequently to Geoff Goodall's superb website dedicated to Australian aviation history and (originally with John Chapman) an extensive and very comprehensive list of warbirds which have survived military service, and also Joe Baugher's American website which includes considerable detail for all the aircraft operated by the USAF/USN/USMC and US Army since 1945, plus batch details for pre-1945 aircraft.

Very sadly Joe died just before Christmas and I've just read on WIX that Geoff has also gone in the last few days.

Thank you gentlemen for your tireless research and dedication, and generosity in freely presenting all this information for our use. Given the chance I'd loved to have bought you both a few beers and enjoyed a chat... RIP.

treadigraph I echo your sentiments.

I've used Geoff's site a lot, and corresponded with him a good few times. He was kind enough to feature a photo of mine on his Anson history page.

RIP, Geoff.

There is a thread on Geoff Goodall's passing here:
RIP Geoff Goodall

Sorry to hear of Joe Baugher's passing. That's two of the greats gone in quick succession. There is a special place reserved in aviation heaven for people who put good material on the web free of charge.

Have made much use of both Gentleman's excellent web sites, I salute them both for the work they have put into the provision of information to we nutters. RIP

It's a worry though, what occurs in the future to the web sites? The treasure trove that was "Flight" archives is lost to us, and I can no longer find the listing by MSN of all Boeing aircraft ever produced.

This chap plans to maintain Joe Baugher's lists and has posted a nice eulogy plus a link to one by Joe's widow.
