London Stansted to Blackpool 2005
Just found in the files I nearly went (but in the end didn't) on the following in 2005 for a business meeting
Stansted - 0650 Blackpool - 0750 Blackpool - 2045 Stansted - 2140 However I have no recollection of who the carrier might have been. Presumably based at Stansted, but doing something else in the day. Any ideas ? |
I think Ryanair were operating this route at the time. Mind you almost as quick with Autair from Luton some forty years before. (But not much use for having a working day in Blackpool or its environs).

Yes, dear old Ryanair, who in those heady days was expanding like crazy to all those airfields Europewide that most had never heard of, nor thought to visit. If I remember correctly, Blackpool seemed to be served by a handful of destinations, such as London, Dublin and GLA/EDI.

I flew the route with Ryanair. I remember the front few rows of the aircraft were taped off. Aircraft maybe half full.

and how everyone laughed and forecast their imminent demise.......................... |
I operated STN/BPL with Ryanair in 2005 don't think the route lasted long
I also did LTN/BPL with Autair on the 748 |
Yup - FR - did a weekend up there with friends and our return was canx due to crosswinds at BLK so the aircraft went to LPL with the northbound pax and back to STN empty. The next available flight was the night after as it wasn't double daily every day.

I seem to remember Buzz 146's also operated the service for a time after they were acquired by Ryanair. Often the Ryanair aircraft were the B737-200s

We used to have a Twin Pioneer fly in on a regular basis (when I were a nipper) |
