At least four BA Trident 3s ended up with a Zairian outfit after retirement - though I suspect lady pilots were not amongst their crews! ;)

Great thread!

Wasn't there also a Trident with Air Ceylon?

My dad was promoted & we moved to Glasgow in ‘73.
I was at school 6 miles from LBA & flew home on Dan-air’s HS748s ( & a ‘111 once when the ‘748 went ‘tech! )
Thanks for these posts all, I now know the name of the lady who flew me to Glasgow a couple of times.
As a child who had always loved things that fly & as a ‘regular’ who was known to most of the crews , I always visited the flight deck.
It was 50 years ago but I still remember how lovely she was , she made a great impression on a 12 year old.
I continue to think the ‘748 was a great piece of kit!

One of my former Monarch colleagues has flown for ACS. I vaguely remember him telling me that the Brits came home after one of them had a fatal accident. Here is a contemporary advert for the company.

Great thread and I concur with all posts. I was in ops from '68-'71. Cally crewing, BUA Traffic, Moretons..Sponsored by BKS/ Northeast and flew the T1e. but merged seniority and awful BEA SOP's led me on to Laker and Air Europe. Aware of all the past and no Trident ladies..

Cyprus did have the T1E but a very masculine society up to today. You won't even see them driving taxis or busses , let alone planes.

IN GF, rostered to fly with one(and only, I think) on the 76. VERY attracxtive, French. Had me mumbling like a freak as I asked her, nervously, if she would like to "Fly us hair, I mean bare I mean there," etc. Had to be asked twice for everything, missed radio calls.....oh dear..Hotac drinks in the bar saw me splill me jack&coke and she was whisked away by my trendy ,far too good- looking Head of the Cabin, fortunately ALL male. went to bed & watched "Air Crash Investigations". Marve !

Thanks for memory jog .. forgot about Cyprus , and Air Ceylon .
Filled in on a sim ride with an Air Ceylon guy who was 748 Capt , and T1E F/O . He was upgrading to Trid. Capt and was given some sim practice with us . No sims in Ceylon ... Myself and mate as stand in F/Os were not impressed ..
The Zaire sales , mopped up some recently retired Skips and some F/Os who taken redundancy ; no 'gurls from BA .... After the car crash in which skipper died [ good guy , near neigbour ] things changed ..
Tubby , might know him . Did he go on to Singapore ? If so next met him 20 + yrs later in Dickens bar in HKG , small world aviation .

Rgds condor .

The chap who came to Monarch after Zaire did indeed go on to SQ and is very probably the person you had a drink with Condor. He is now retired and living on the south coast.
