Headwind criteria of the first aviation prizes in France

Hello,

I'm researching about the first aviation prizes in France for fixed-wing aircraft. Prizes such as the Archdeacon Coup, the Henri Deutsch-Archdeacon Prize and the prize of the Aéro-Club de France. Those prizes all date from 1904.

My question is: did any of those prizes allowed the aircraft to takeoff by making use of a headwind? If yes, there was any limit for it? If someone has primary sources telling about the criteria of those prizes, such as the L'Aérophile magazine, it would be very helpful. Thanks since now for the attention.
