Fire training aircraft Leeds Bradford early 70s
Wasn’t sure where to post this , so please don’t admonish me if it’s the wrong place!
I was at school near Leeds Bradford from ‘72 to ‘74. At weekends , my aviation minded schoolmates & I ‘lived’ at the airport. When not in the terminal , we were hanging around- and welcome- at Yorkshire flying club , ‘Northair’s hanger & other places opposite the main buildings. But , I’m now years older & beginning to wonder if one of my recollections is completely wrong! I’m 99% sure that on the same side as YFC but further away & within the airport perimeter , there was an old aircraft halfway up a hill, used for fire training. Obviously at that time , it would have been an old propellor aircraft but I can’t find any mention of it at all in my web searches. And no , I don’t think it was a rig made of girders! I’d be grateful if anyone could tell me anything further about it or just tell me I’m imagining it. Thanks all. |
Was it a Varsity.

A sad picture that's just spoilt my morning. I've flown 676, and you're making me feel aged. :{

Marvellous!
Thanks all, I am reassured that I wasn’t imagining it! Ta again for your time & replies. |
No not blind. I merely mentioned that I had flown 676, a very close relative. I know that one is 678. Eyesight perfect, as is memory, certainly in relation to location of logbook.:)
