Fire training aircraft Leeds Bradford early 70s

Wasn’t sure where to post this , so please don’t admonish me if it’s the wrong place!
I was at school near Leeds Bradford from ‘72 to ‘74.
At weekends , my aviation minded schoolmates & I ‘lived’ at the airport.
When not in the terminal , we were hanging around- and welcome- at Yorkshire flying club , ‘Northair’s hanger & other places opposite the main buildings.
But , I’m now years older & beginning to wonder if one of my recollections is completely wrong!
I’m 99% sure that on the same side as YFC but further away & within the airport perimeter , there was an old aircraft halfway up a hill, used for fire training.
Obviously at that time , it would have been an old propellor aircraft but I can’t find any mention of it at all in my web searches.
And no , I don’t think it was a rig made of girders!
I’d be grateful if anyone could tell me anything further about it or just tell me I’m imagining it.
Thanks all.

A sad picture that's just spoilt my morning. I've flown 676, and you're making me feel aged. :{

Herod it's actually WL678 so you must be both aged and in need of an eyesight test !
WL676 ended her days at Kemble .

Marvellous!
Thanks all, I am reassured that I wasn’t imagining it!
Ta again for your time & replies.

No not blind. I merely mentioned that I had flown 676, a very close relative. I know that one is 678. Eyesight perfect, as is memory, certainly in relation to location of logbook.:)

Was it finally removed when they built the new hangar. 80s.

I think the Varsity wreck was removed as part of the extension project in the early eighties. From memory, those hangers didn't appear until quite a bit later.
