Searching for Fougas

All,

I am searching for the final resting places of some Fouga Magisters -

Katangan Fouga - C/N - 295 - KAT-92 - Last seen Lubumbashi in 1964
Katangan Fouga - C/N - 296 - KAT-93 - Last seen Luanda in the late 60s
Cameroonian Fouga - C/N - 300 - TJX-AW
Cameroonian Fouga - C/N - 301 - TJX-AX
Cameroonian Fouga - C/N - 302 - TJX-AY

Any help gratefully received.

Bill

I recall the Gabonese has a few Fougas in the late eighties. I assume they were provided by the French.
Much fun to see them launch.
We joked that they actually did not climb but used curvature of the earth to attain any altitude.
When ever the President for Life Omar Bongo arrived back from his frequent trips to Switzerland and other banking centres they used to fly formation with his jet all the way to touchdown with them doing a low level overshoot on very short final. Supposedly to act as cannon fodder in the event someone launched a heat seeker at him.

This report, dated 2012, suggests that they are former Austrian/Gabon/Congolese AF examples TR-KFI/9Q-CPB (367) and TR-KFJ/9Q-CPC (368).

Both still visible on GE 2021 imagery.

GE has a "time machine" setting. They weren't there in 2010, but were in 2012 if that's any help.

I read that only 3 Fouga’s were delivered to Katanga.
2 Did not survive and 3rd survived and was left at Kolwezi.
That one is presumably absorbed in the Congo Air Force.
Are you looking for the 2 which did not survive?

You are aware of two pictures on Flickr
of 1 abandoned Katanga Fouga?
I see no place nor aircraft ID but other photos on that Flickr page might help on place?

On GE I see at least 4 Fougas on Garoua airbase Cameroon.
1 as gate guardian 2 in front of main building and one on a dispersal ring East side.
You have them with numbers?

Your Cameroon aircraft are probably numbered TJ-XAX.

Fouga at Deer Valley is probably N604DM which is a former Finnish AF aircraft.

There is one on a post on a roundabout off the A62 south of here. Just out of interest.

And, I was at a BoB day in Linconshire and the PdF aero team showed up. One guy did an inverted circuit of the base with his wingman's nose within the V of the tail. The RAF guys I was with were quite impressed.

treadigraph 17th Feb 2022 09:06

Photo out there showing the PdF inverted "singletons" practically touching - allegedly at the Biggin BoB day in 1976. If so I was there; I can't say I recall the display, though they certainly participated with a Noratlas for support. According to Bernard Chabbert (I think) one pair were fired from the team, could well have been them.

Marked N604RD. I took another look today. It is really sad looking.

treadigraph 18th Feb 2022 03:45

Yes, that's the same aircraft, supposedly to have become N604RD for an owner in Puerto Rico but the registration not taken up. Presume it never flew as such.

There could be 2 Fougas in Yaoundé Ville airport at the pin:
