The following link is to an interesting website that asks for help in identifying films sets/locations etc. (similar to Reelstreets.com).
There is a page containing unidentified airports/airfields.
Can anyone add any info? Thanx!

Unknown airports

The Pan Am 707 may be at Seattle-Tacoma Airport, judging by the terminal building and what may be a Northwest hangar. https://www.historylink.org/File/4232

Think the P-166 might well be Luton, the McAlpines hangar as was. G-AVSM was certainly owned by them.

Could the Trident be Edinburgh?

My immediate thought on seeing the hill in the background of the Trident shots was that it was runway 24 at Edinburgh. That runway was only built in 1977 though, and the clip seems to date from 1969...

I'm seeing Edinburgh Airport too, with Turnhouse Hill in the background, so believe that 12/30 would make more sense, not least timewise.

Scenery doesn't look like PIK either, I suspect it's not a UK airport.

Trident couldn't be at Hatfield could it? Last there in 1984 I think and I really don't recall the land to the north of the runway, but maps seem to indicate a bit of a rise on that side! Hopkirk & Randall seems to have been based at Elstree Studios...

Shannon is a possibility for the Trident as it was a favoured location for crew training. However the images don't really show enough specific detail to be sure.

Can anyone confirm the location for the Panam (Clipper Pathfinder) / Champions shot above, I favour Heathrow,

I doubt the takeoff would have been filmed specially for R&H, more likely a stock/publicity film (it's very well shot), so it needn't have been anywhere near the studios.

The whole episode can be seen here: Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) - S01e11 - The Ghost Who Saved The Bank At Monte Carlo (1969) - video Dailymotion (takeoff sequence starts at around 47:26). Note that the cruise shot that follows the takeoff is definitely a publicity film, showing an earlier configuration of the Trident, before the APU was relocated to the tail.

DEF Not Gatwick - Pan Am had no ground equipment there - the 707's came in often on charters from the 60's and 70's and handled IIRC by BUA (then BCAL)

Very interesting little thread testing the grey matter for what these airfields looked like years ago. For year the Heathrow Tower was the iconic feature but LHR today looks nothing like LHR 40 years ago along with many airports. Some of course no longer exist. Thnak you for posting the link too

I've just had another look and i'm now wondering it the Trident is at Aberdeen. The current terminal on the west side was not built until the mid/late 70's.
