I use chrome as well and have no problem posting photos - hit the little square with mountains near the Smiley icon, drag and drop pictures from Explorer into the big arrow and cloud on the "UPLOAD Files" dialog

All very well but all my photos are on 35mm and I have no way of downloading them so still OH.

There are good and affordable 35mm negative scanners.
Gives you something to do with your excess time on your hands.
And the public is here on H en N forum.

But most photos I pull from the net when I see an Aerodrome which interests me.

They look like Fokker's to me but those tail markings? Somewhere in Europe 1918?

Could then tail markings be Swedish?

I re-watched the classic "Dr. Strangelove" the other night and at the 19:52 mark there's a scene with Group Capt. Lionel Mandrake meeting with Brig. Gen. Jack D. Ripper in Ripper's office. First time I'd ever noticed, but on Ripper's office wall is an image of Heathrow airport. I find that strange for what was an American production.

It was filmed in Britain so that explains the Heathrow picture, which I still think is a poor continuity decision.

I remember reading that the set designers built the B-52 cockpit using their imagination and common sense - how many thrust levers do we need?.

Apparently the USAF were appalled when they saw it and thought someone had been passing on secrets!

I’m always amused by the low-level sequences, where the Buff’s shadow has magically morphed into a B-17’s.

Thanks India, it must have been filmed in some LHR muck-a-muck's office.

Damn! Now I'll have to watch it again to look for those sequences. Hardly a hardship, it is a wonderful film.

I'll promise I'll ban myself for drift but Stanley Kubrick flatly refused to fly so all films since late fifties made in his adopted UK home or nearby. His use of Brit character actors is always a giveaway From Paths of Glory onwards through Barry Lyndon, 2001 A Space Oddity and finally the Cruise/ Kidman err, thriller...

Given Rob’s post above, I’ll risk drifting a little further.

Besides playing President Muffley, Squadron Leader Mandrake and Dr. Strangelove, Peter Sellers was supposed to play the character of Major Kong. Due to an injured ankle, although there is some dispute about that, he was unable/unwilling to play the Major Kong part.

As a consequence, Kubrick made the inspired decision to cast Slim Pickens:

I can't find those tail markings other than some Spanish Civil War ones - but that is ruled as they're Fokkers

Now that looks like a Fokker D.XI or D.XIII

At max magnification the nose looks a bit more like a D.XIV = which take us perhaps to the Reichswer and onwards to Lipetsk in the late '20's?

Indeed Fokkers at Lipetsk.
A Russian Aerodrome paid for by the Reichswehr were the Luftwaffe could practice and train their new pilots.
As the complete Luftwaffe was forbidden it has to be done in secret in Russia. Russian pilots got trained there as well as repayment.

I had never heard before that Fokker evaded the embargoes with also turning a blind eye of some Dutch customs.
