I see a Piper Commanche and some fences. Wot no sheds?
How about Wyoming?

Asturias56 12th Aug 2023 15:57

Sorry to disappoint but this is a place of few sheds and few trees - but it isn't Wyoming

I forgot to say how astounded I was at the number of serious airbases that were built in a few months in the least populated parts of Australia in WW2
7 airfields within 10 miles of Townsville, with many more heading towards Charters Towers. An impressive effort.

Its the ones up in the NT that are amazing - I doubt anyone has ever been back there!

Few sheds, few trees and no lamp-posts. Prairies?

dixi188 13th Aug 2023 16:33

I see hills.
N Dakota, S Dakota, Montana, or similar?

Asturias56 13th Aug 2023 16:35

well yes of- of sort - but probably somewhat different from those of "Wagon Train"

Nice terminal but not a lot of scheduled flights

It's quite flat and dry but it isn't in any of the three named states nor Wyoming

ea200 13th Aug 2023 17:39

Maybe Kansas then?

teusje 13th Aug 2023 17:45

Flat and dry sounds like Kansas, and Hays Regional seems to have a nice terminal.

A Bonanza or Debonair.

I defer to your superior knowledge.
Doesn't help much though.

Too damn true! I almost posted one where you could (just) see the logo of a plane parked outside in the distance - which would have been a bit of a giveaway

I can see that without trees and sheds many are bereft - so here are the trees -

As I said not Wagon Train country - so not in the classic US Great Plains - TBH it surprised me as piece of scenery........ not what I was expecting at all :(

Little Big Horn country?

Asturias56 14th Aug 2023 09:56

Oddly it does look the same - the feeling of rather bleak, open spaces but no...............

quite well equipped. It's hard to say very much about the place without giving the game away - altho' "time has passed this place by" - almost zero history , no famous people, nothing exciting ever happened here

Scheduled flights provided by one airline, several flights a day in summer but in small aircraft. Connects to a couple of major airports

Asturias56 14th Aug 2023 11:22

I'll be in and out for the rest of the week

we're suffering from the 8th Plague of Egypt - the builders have arrived....................
