AW Argosy structural diagrams query

It's a bit of a long shot, but, with the range and depth of knowledge on here you never know.

Does anybody have any knowledge of , or, better still, can offer advice / provide links to the wing structure and in particular the spar joints on the fuselage centre section . A detailed structural diagram would be ideal, however, any information about the structure would be of significant interest please.

Have you tried `Flight` archives for a `cutaway drawing...?

Flight archive ceased to exist more than a year ago unfortunately

First, thanks for all the replies. :ok:

I admit I hadn't considered "Flight's" cutaways, excellent though they were. There again, I always used to read Flight starting at the back...

However, taking your advice, I did a search and found another outlet with the same name. This did provide a cutaway which has helped as it appears the wing/fuselage join is a box section and it's the integrity of this join which is of particular interest to me.

That said, any more suggestions that emerge will be welcome in order to gain as much information as possible.

Was not the Argosy wing essentially that of the Shackleton ? If so that may help with the wing structure at least.

It was indeed.

tredigraph,
thanks for the confirmation. My thought was based on a recollection of a conversation with a NS who had worked at AW before his call up. Many moons ago !
Now where did I leave my specs ?

That wing design can be traced back through a line of Avro aircraft - from the Manchester via the Lancaster, Lincoln and Shackleton - to the Argosy.

An Argosy wing over Kenya!

Thank you for the further replies and PM's. I was unaware of the family history so to speak, until now. I now have sufficient information, and direct contacts, to resolve my query. At some point in the future, I should be able to reveal why I posted the query and hope this will meet with approval given it involves preservation..
