Farnborough International airshow to end?

There's a report on the Fighter Control website stating that, due to film works at Farnborough extending out to 2024, the airshow would be unlikely to happen

Sadly I can't copy the link across to here to support this.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Notwithstanding the uninformed debate on Fighter Control, it's perfectly clear from the application - being made on behalf of FIA - that the aim is to secure the future of the Show in the long-term.

Plenty of room for 2 sound stages as well as air show exhibition halls and chalets.
FIA have a long lease on the entire south side of the site south of the security fence so they'll want to make money outside the airshow period; they already do by hiring out the permanent exhibtion hall(s) for events without aviation connections.

The air show ended for me 20 years ago when the manufacturers flew out most of the interesting stuff before the public days. Plus there isn't much in the way of exciting flying ... or even new aircraft when it comes down to it .

Fairford is much, much, much better in all respects

Having had a hand in the display programme every show since since 1974 ie 16 airshows, I stopped writing the display programme after the 2004 show; co-incidence?
The employee of FIA who took the programming over from me was supposed to be an 'experienced professional' at doing it but unlike me, he left huge gaps in the programme; I tried to advise him that wasn't the way SBAC would have wanted it but he totally ignored all my inputs.

It would be no surprise. There is not much UK industry left that would need it's separate show and Paris is there to stay for sure. Moving show dates back and forth into french main holidays didn't help either.
