Been asked elsewhere if anyone could identify this please? Thank you.

Not like any RAF (or other air force) badge I've ever seen. More likely from an airline, so perhaps Lancastrian rather than Lancaster?

Can you offer any context?

Brymon Airways?

With a fresh set of eyes this morning, I agree it looks more like an airline type of badge.

The only info I had was that the chap served on Lancasters as an 'engineer', but that could mean several things I suppose.

Hows about a cap badge for the original British Airways?:O

Have I missed something, but why did you say Lancaster? What is the connection?

2 sheds, all I had to go on is 'Grandad’s badge ... he was a RAF engineer on Lancasters.'

I suspect it may have been something he collected along the way, or he may have subsequently been in civvy aviation. It doesn't look like most RAF brevets. Looks like it was made to be on a cap band, but it may be none of those things! I'll give it some more time in case someone recognises it, then I'll ask the relative if they knew what he did after the RAF, (assuming nothing bad happened).

This is the best I can find on the web but it does look similar. I suspect the badge is pre war.

Thank you Flaps 40, looks like a Lancastrian too. Yes the one in my pic seems like an older design.

Not a Lancastrian - Lockheed Electra? But distinct similarities with the material and design of other B.A. badges.

Thank you Flap 40, 2s and DaveReid. That certainly echoes the B above and interlocking the A, I think my pic must be the British Airways Ltd badge but an older version. And yes it is a Lockheed L14 Super Electra. I've also found the BA Heritage website, where they say they have over 130 preserved uniforms from 1930 to the present day, with a contact email address, so I'll ask them too. Thanks everybody, I'll let you know how I get on!
