Foreign military Auster photos wanted

I am an aviation author and historian and gathering material for a modeller's reference book on the Warpaint series on Military Austers. I am looking for good quality photos of Austers in service with these Air Forces - Belgium. Hong Kong, Indian, Israel,Jordan,Libya, Kuwait, Netherlands Pakistan. Even photos of preserved or wrecked Austers would be useful as long as they are in the original colours. Hoping you may be able to help? Thanks for looking.

Presumably you're looking for colour, rather than monochrome, images?

I have one of Pakistan Air Force J/5F Aiglet Trainer W4108 that I took at the PAF Museum, Karachi, on 27 March 2007.

Re the photo I just posted, above, I can't say if these were the original colours. In fact the fabric is very sagging, so looks as if it might not be original. For a photo of W4104 in camouflage see: Auster Aiglet Trainer - trainer

Is the wing wrapped with polythene sheets, Laurence, or is it possibly the worst fabric covering job imaginable?

[crossed posts!]

Fauteuil: yes we are seriously cross posting today!
The "fabric" is so badly done (as is the case of the Tiger Moth parked next to the Aiglet) that I wondered at the time if this was wrapping rather than covering. Whatever, the museum is a great place: https://sites.google.com/site/lgarey...airforcemuseum. I just migrated that site to Google New Sites so am not sure if it works yet. Please tell me if you can open it!

Ideally yes, but as long as the colours are known, monochrome would be acceptable. Beggars can't be choosers! Particularly looking for Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force Austers in their final days painted white overall?

Many thanks Laurence. I do have an original print of that link you sent to the photo of W4104. I would think it was quite likely the camouflage was repainted in that yellow scheme. Would apprerciate a hi-res scan of that museum shot if you would be so kind? My e.mail address is [email protected] . That also goes for anyone else happy to help?

Back in 1983, a booklet called 'Nederlandse Austers' was produced by Herman Dekker and Nico Geldhof about Austers in Dutch service. You can reach Herman Dekker through the details on his website: webmaster. Herman's website is in Dutch, but you could ask him if he would be willing to dig through his very extensive archive for you.

Edit: scroll down on this page for several Auster photos from his archive (only just found these pages on his site) http://www.hdekker.info/DIVERSEN/nedFOTO%3bA2.html

Amos: I'll send a copy of the original via email. Let me know if you get it OK:

I can't help much. I've lots of Auster photos but they are mostly civil and those which aren't are mainly UK military. Otherwise all I can offer is RNZAF Auster 7 NZ1707, Auster III MZ236 in RNAF colours and an AOP.9 with seemingly Arabic script markings (although it's my recollection that, long ago and on another forum, someone told me that the latter had been 'mocked up' in the UK as a prank).

Thanks to those that responded. However the biggest mystery appears to be Austers operated by the Kuwait Air Force. They had 3 X J/1 Autocrats, 6 X J/5 Aiglets and 3 X J/5P Autocars, but nowhere are they recorded in any publication apart from a photo of the three wrecked J/5P Autocars in a magazine that I recall, but can't find.. Does anyone have a reference to that photo? Also still need those Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force and Indian Air Force Auster photos if anyone can help?
