The Maharajah of Nawanagar Pays A Call

Some really good bits of footage (in two parts) of a variety of gallant Royal Air Force Types to say nothing of The Maharajah himself. Here he visits 124 (Baroda) Squadron in October 1942. Can anyone identify the airfield? I think it might be Tangmere.

According to Wiki, 124 were at Biggin in October '42, though the video doesn't leap out to me as looking like Biggin!

Is that Trafford Leigh-Mallory at 3.14m - part two?

Ooops, missed Part II - does look like him. Looking at that take off sequence, I'm pretty sure it's not Biggin, the hills behind the take off sequence look wrong - looking NW you get a view across London, you can see Canary Wharf these days. West Malling?

Not West Malling. If you scroll down on the page and look to the right you will see that the location is given as Tangmere. I'd rather like to know who the other tall senior officer is who appears quite frequently - he sports a moustache, one line of ribbons and is thinking of having a fag at one point in the proceedings.

Cheers!

Using Google Maps 3D, topography at Tangmere does look right from the south of the runway looking NE.
