Magnificent. I’ll have to get back to MOTAT soon, if I can find my way there. Last time, about 10 years ago, I got lost. Auckland was a difficult city to drive around in pre-GPS days!

Thanks for that. Lovely to see, and a nostalgic video. For those in the UK who want to see a flying boat, there is a "Sandringham" (not a Solent) in the Solent Air Museum in Southampton. I've not been for many years, but looking at their website, the collection has expanded tremendously.

Short S.45A Solent 4, ZK-AMO “Aranui” SH.1559 was actually the very last four-engine flying boat built by Shorts.

Truly the end of a very distinguished line and it is great that it has been preserved in a museum.

Here is a thread I posted several years ago after I crawled all though “Aranui” and took a number of photographs of the interior while major restoration work was being undertaken...
