i do believe this is WA828 Q of 85 squadron RAF can anyone confirm this please, and what is the badge on the cowling

I suspect it's actually sporting 257 Squadron's green and yellow chequerboard markings, photo probably taken at Wattisham.

cheers dave, tis hard to work out the colours, i thought it was black and red, but looking again it looks like green and yellow, thank you sir

Yes , 257 Squadron and the badge on the outer engine nacelle is an adaption of the squadron crest , a chinthe or Burmese effigy .

thanks david, thanks to dave putting me right i remembered where i got it from, it is taken at Wattisham, and the badge on the cowling will be easy, my father was in Burma with the Chindits so i know the beastie well
