C47 Fuselage near Compton in 70's

Does anyone know the identity and fate of the C47 that used to be visible from the London to Swindon train in the early 70's?
The only reference I can find is in Wrecks and Relics eighth edition, which has it located at Chapelwick Farm near Compton.

It was a USAAF example with star and bar insignia. It was only the fuselage minus cockpit and tail and no serial was visible. The interior was packed with farm stuff so entry was not possible. The farmer told me it came from one of the troop carrier airfields in the vicinity and had been used for jump training. Presumably, it had been written off in an accident and relegated to ground duty. The Air-Britain DC-3 book gives about six C-47s that might qualify.
