1970's RAF Aerobatics films on YouTube
Hi Guys,
I'm still searching for Info on Linton Gin & The Linton Blades. During my search I recently bought some 8mm films off eBay. I have loaded them onto YouTube Enjoy the films. All the Best Steve |
Happy nostalgia! I recognise all four team members of the Macaws, but can only remember the names of Brian Hoskins and Pete Diggance. Pete took over the lead from Brian when he was posted to Buccs at Honington, and of course Brian subsequently led the Red Arrows and the Black Seahawks display teams.

Red Arrows video looks like 1975 or 76? |

Moderators! Is there any chance that this thread and several others that have appeared recently could be gathered together into a sticky "great videos" thread?
Thanks! :ok: |
Perhaps better to make a wiki post in which everybody can put their favorite links with short description. The wiki appears always on top of this thread. Then discussions an new additions can be posted in normal posts in thread. SLB |

The Red Pelicans Jet Provosts from Little Rsssington - Probably 1972 ( Most others seem to be '72 ) due to the inclusion of Capt R. Lord ( USAF ) , he was also a member of the '73 team so there's a chance the film is from '73 Steve |
Lovely!
The Chipmunks shown are WG316/22, WG348/28, WG407/32 and WK573/4. |
1970's Gemini Team
I led the team in 1973 with Graham 'Dusty' Miller as my No 2 who progressed on to become Air Marshall Sir Graham Miller. He retired January 2008.

We were all QFI's on the Jet Provost based at RAF Leeming. My Squadron Commander was Henry Prince Ex Yellowjack and Red Arrows, Happy Days indeed. |
Nice photo of a young Air Marshal Miller, but mirror image ?

Photo of Gemini over Lake Garda 1973 display Vergiate.
'Dusty' as No 2 formating on me inverted whilst he kept formation whilst getting a cricked neck looking upwards. If I held it for too long inverted the fuel recuperator would empty and engine would flame out which happened only once during a display. That got a little exciting !!! https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....577a1b06dc.jpg |
Nice mirror pic. Re the group picture, I assume the flying team members are in the flashy suits. What did the other three winged gentlemen do, or were they in another team? Innocent question.

Left to Right Front Row - SAC Ron Anderson - Flying groundcrew. SAC Bob Goodier - Flying Groundcrew |
Brian looks a bit thinner than when I knew him as my instructor on the Rissie course a few years (1975) later than that photo .
A very good bloke who taught me a lot. I hope he is still well and prospering. |
