DRAGON AIRWAYS
I sure there used to be an airline called Dragon Airways operating a fleet on DH Heron aircraft based at NCL....can anybody throw any light on this i.e. which routes they operated?

It was founded early in 1953, evolving from pleasure flights operated by Butlins holiday camp group; in this instance from Broomhall airfield at Pwllheli.
They had a mixed fleet of Rapide/Auster/Gemini/Heron and Viking. Liverpool flying Club was involved. The Herons flew Newcastle to Glasgow/Manchester/Copenhagen and Hamburg and later, after a buyout by Hunting-Clan, to Paris/Bergen/Belfast/Amsterdam and Dusseldorf. The name disappeared in 1957 when Dragon became a part of Silver City Airways. More info to be found in British Independent Airlines, author Tony Merton-Jones |
Thank you very much for your informative reply

Dragon Airways had a short-lived scheduled route from Newcastle-London Airport (i.e. Heathrow) in 1956...my pic with a Brownie 127 :-) https://abpic.co.uk/pictures/view/1000145
