Philstone International
 
As I recall this company had at least one Viscount - G-BAPG - registered to it. Does anyone know anything about the company itself ? Did it operate any aircraft, was it a dealer or lessor ? I haven't been able to find out anything apart from a few bits and pieces on the Vickers Viscount website.

Checked on G-INFO, no mention of Philstone International re: G-BAPG. Other finance companies are listed

They owned another Viscount, G-CSZB (an 807B) from November 1982 to October 1983.

Thanks folks. The Philstone name appears in the Civil Aircraft Markings books in the early eighties but there's not much else to go on.

A mystery. Who, what, why, where and so on. I wonder if the bloke behind Baltic and Hot Air might know, being a fellow Viscount man at a similar time ?

Spent a couple of hours of my life flying in it from Huambo Angola to Lusaka courtesy of Dr Savimbi in the mid 70's flown by 2 German speaking pilots, probably South Africans, in a distinctly combo configuration. The plane then was in the colours of Oriental Pearl Airlines The seat back and bulkhead pockets still had Air New Zealand timetables in them. The plane was in good condition for what it was obviously doing. Later seen in in Rotterdam Airport about 6 months later. It was probably at the time an "agency" airline for organisations that liked to keep a low profile. Regards Alan

Alan, apologies if I'm a bit slow but what is the connection between this aircraft and Philstone International ?

I think that, despite quoting the registration of a pre-war Avro biplane, Alan was talking about the Viscount I referred to in post #3. :O
