Quite a job: who is doing the re-certification?
I wonder how many rotary wire brushes they've got through so far ... ?
Please reassure me that the rotary wire brushes being used are not steel !!!
I was a little concerned at the amount of mechanical abrasion on the skins. This needs to be polished to remove all the scratches before Alocrom treatment.
They would be using Scotch-Brite™ Scuffing Discs to remove the oxide layer prior to further treatment, such as Alodine or application of primer. Common aircraft treatment using Scotch-Brite™. The use of Scotch-Brite™ does leave a microscopic scratched appearance which is beneficial for primer attachment.
The abrasions visible at 2:20 don't look like the result of using a Scotch-Brite pad to me.
Having done my share of Scotch Briting on aircraft Alclad and priming same it looks like Scotch Brite, or similar abrasive, on a rotary tool to me Dave. Built a few RV's.
