Merton film studios which I beleive became the triang toy factory
Close, but no cigar......Merton Studios were in Kingston Rd near Nelson Hospital, active until the mid-60s, car chases were often filmed locally in those traffic-free days and can often be spotted in old b/w films. The Triang toy factory was a couple of miles away: I had a holiday job there once, they went into receivership while I was there, I often wondered if the two events were related. The site backed onto the abandoned railway line between Merton Park and Tooting: the Savacentre was built the other side of the line on or close to the original site of Merton Abbey. Wimbledon Studios were later created on the other side of the Triang site, but they weren't connected with the earlier operation.

Great minds think alike - see 'Crooked Sky' (1956 film)!
