BBC: "92-year-old World War Two veteran flies Spitfire again"
(Apologies if this isn't the best place to post this)
I thought this was a lovely story about a 92-year-old WWII ATA Veteran going back up in a Spitfire: BBC Radio 5 live - In Short, 92-year-old World War Two veteran flies Spitfire again Does anybody know which airfield this was? Duxford perhaps? /Al |
Thanks for that clip.
Could have been Goodwood from glimpses seen, & they do have Spitfires there. The reference could well be cross posted onto the Pprune Military Aviation thread entitled 'Gaining an RAF Pilot's brevet'. That forum has the lady's contemporaries still writing very regularly and they would be delighted to see this. mike hallam. P.S. I just looked there and it's already been done by someone ! |
Thanks Mike. I'll look up Goodwood in my airfields book and see what it's like to fly into/out of, purely out of noseyness.

It was Goodwood and the Spitfire was Boultbee Flight Academy's

Wow what an amazing experience for this lady revisiting an experience from her youth. We can only guess at the thoughts that must have gone through her mind and the memories revisiting this aircraft?
Well done whoever set this up for her Pace |
She's a great lady, I have had the privilege of flying her several times
|
Goodwood is a great field to fly in to
