DC3 found after 54 years

Wreckage believed to be from a DC3 that went missing in 1961 has been found in the Andes.

24 people perished including 8 members of Green Cross a Div 1 football team from Chile, who were returning from a match.

Confused...some says wreckage was found seven days later on the morning of April 10:

Conflicting reports suggest that the wreckage was not located at the time by the ground search, despite having being spotted from the air a week after the crash by the crew of an overflying LAN airliner.

talks about finding human remains at the crash site two weeks ago and mentions rumours that, although funerals took place at the time, there were no bodies buried.

There are some pictures going around showing wreckage including parts of an engine and propeller.

From what I can see on the grainy twitter picture, it looks to me like the propeller was not feathered and producing power at the time of impact. Can anyone post an appreciation of the actual weather conditions as they were 54 years ago at the time?

I haven't actually flown a DC-3 but I have stood next to one at an airshow once.
