RNHF Fury Crash

Just watched an interesting Youtube clip on the 31 Jul Royal Navy Historic Flight Hawker Sea Fury crash. Lots of white smoke so engine not happy but seems to be a partial failure as she keeps running. I think a wise decision to leave the gear up till sure of making the runway, one reason drag and the other an off field landing could have her going over and pinning the pilot under four odd tons of smoking Sea Fury. However very bad luck as with a slow engine/low pressure hudraulics it seems the one gear leg did not lock down, so she ended up sliding in on the belly as fortunately the other leg folds also. He very nearly pulled it of. Could have been far worse.:}

Also, anyone know anything about the Kent Spitfire that went off the Runway about a month or so ago? One very brief report in World Warbird news and that was it?

Sea Fury accident was discussed on the mil forum, some skilled flying by Chris Gotke!

Kent Spitfire ended up on her nose, so certainly a new prop and perhaps an engine change.

Also a superb emergency landing was pulled off by John Romain in a Buchon at Headcorn at the end of June after a con rod went through the side of the block as he pulled up into a wingover or loop! Trailered back to Duxford, I believe the aeroplane was one of the two flying at Legends less than two weeks later with a replacment Merlin under the bonnet!
