306th Bombardment Group Memorial - Thurleigh gone

Does anyone know what has happened to the splendid memorial that was located on what is now open ground close to the former Thurleigh airfield?

Everything has gone, memorial, plinth, seats, flagpoles. Only thing left are the flagstones leading to an empty space.

From the 306th BG Association's October 2011 newsletter:

"At San Diego in October, the 306th BGA Board of Directors voted to fund the balance needed to move the 306th Memorial at Thurleigh. Plans are now underway to move the Memorial from its present location outside the former base location and position it at the 306th BG Memorial Museum complex."

Thanks for the info. Here is a link to the museum which is based at the old airfield. The 306th Bombardment Group Museum

The airfield closed in 1994 but all the buildings, runways, taxiways and aprons are still in excellent condition.
