British Airtours - 1975 to 1979 - Help Please!!
Afternoon all,
I am currently trying to find out some particular details about British Airtours, and am having incredible trouble trying to source some information. I have tried fruitlessly the National Archives, the British Airways museum, good old Google; hell I've even tried Wikipedia!! Short of trying to get hold of an ATC log for Gatwick airport from the time I'm out of ideas. Well, the information I am after is a list of the destinations and flights served by British Airtours (KT) during this time. I know the work was pretty much all subcharter so depended on what the charterer (charteree?) booked, but ideally there are at least a couple of former KT 707 jocks who could most kindly thumb the pages of their logbooks and share with me some destinations, the flight number and departure times and days for some of the places they served. I guess there was a lot of the usual Canaries/Iberian Peninsula/Italy/Greece destinations, plus some Ski work in the winter months - but I simply cannot find any detailed info anywhere - for example, were the aircraft worked as hard as most charter aircraft during the summer; i.e. if not on a charter then positioning for the next one - even overnight? So there is my plea. I sincerely hope there are some kind souls out there who can spare a few minutes to help a total nerd with this quandary. Best Regards, Tom Beckett |
