What Was Over Essex?

Help needed from the experts. Mid Essex, about 1700 today (25th Jun), south to north. Flying boat, twin piston, biplane, twin-boom tail. The lower wing had considerably less span than the upper and looked to be carrying two floats. The hull had a Sikorsky look to it, and the best I've been able to come up with is the S-38 or similar. Any ideas?

The well-known S-38 replica has been in Europe over the last few weeks, and arrived at Duxford today.

Thanks, that's the one.

It's getting interesting in this corner of Essex. Monday was the S-38; this afternoon a Junkers 52.
