BOAC 707
The halcyon days of BOAC |
That took me right back to 1959, 12 years old and trying (rather unsuccesfully) to slide the long blue transfer onto my Airfix(?) model BOAC 707 to add the finishing touches. Ended up with a very wobbly line along the fuselage, which was a shame because that was a very elegant livery- especially when compared with some of the dog's breakfasts BA have experimented with!

Does anyone know what movie this clip came from? |
The clip is from 'The Vip's'
|
This is much better!

I disagree. You can't beat Margaret Rutherford sitting in the back row of a 707 with her usual taunts of one liners! Brilliant scene. "Conductress" another one to add to the list I guess:D

If you enjoy 707s, you should visit the National Museum of Flight where they have the forward fuselage of a 707 in BOAC livery with a fascinating exhibition about the jet age and what it was like to fly on 707s as crew and passengers.
|
Or visit Iran where a B707 operates daily, but for how long ?

VC10derness
Some more BOAC VC10 clips:
From the halcyon days before wretched LoCos ruined airline travel for ever.... "The amazing quietness of the Super VC10....." :hmm: |
I joined the "Junior Jet Club" in 1966 on board a VC-10 from Boston to Heathrow

Junior Jet Club
December 5th 1965 LHR, via NBO to JNB I have purchased log books for my great nephews, with their names embossed on the front and they have several flights already in them, aged 2 and 4! Since thier father is a pilot (738s) he makes sure the books are filled in properly. |
B.O.A.C. SFO-SYD, dipped right wing down to give us good look at red tiled roofs,,,yeah - right....Qantas 707 out.... tooooo many stewards...ignorant bastards.

You are lucky to still have them. I lost mine in some house move in the 70,s but my first would be July 1963 to Cairo I am told by my father. Had quite a number of flights with BCAL on routes in early 70,s coming back from South America to UK school, but was too old by then for Junior Jet club, although I remember many kids going to Lusaka with BCAL had some sort of junior jet pass. Lusaka bunch always seemed very loud and in retrospect I must feel sorry for some of their fellow passengers on that route. Was infomed by our "Aunty" (ex BCAL stewardess,s who used to escort you up to a certain age) that we were a better behaved bunch. All seems a long time ago although I did see one of my "Aunty,s" in Gatwick in mid 1980,s so it was still going strong then, and she was off to Lusaka and dreading it so some things did not change. |
My first ever jet flight was in a BOAC 707, Heathrow - Bedford - several circuits - Heathrow.
I was the only passenger :):) |
B707 British Airtours
Recently watching USA airfield storage clip and long linger with cam on a B707 British Airtours - titles clear and visible ! Registration was not and strange to me was it had blue / white cheat lines x 4.
Love to know a bit about it. Did a lot of Duty Travel on B707 & VC10 including another Airtours B707 'PB' Pretty Boy with the title under the P1 window. Not sure that would be acceptable today. |
