Jock Maitland RIP

Just seen over on Flypast that Jock has passed away.

Never had the pleasure of meeting him, but for many years Biggin Hill's Air Fair was by far the best air show...

My salute to you sir and condolences to Jock's family. A life extremely well lived.

The heart and soul of Biggin Hill

We all owe Jock for all he did for Aviation, and Biggin Hill in particular.

He ran Biggin with his heart.

Take care up there Jock.

Jock could be a bugger to deal with, but also a damn top bloke when he knew you were genuine. EGKB is still here today thanks to Jock:ok:

A fair assessment, Merlin. :ok:

Jock as a Fighter Pilot

For a good account of Jock's RAF flying there is an article 'on-line' on
Aviation Classics edition 9 (Mar 2011). It covers his time before during, and after his 77 Sabre missions with the Americans in Korea.
Not that you would know about it just talking to him.
As 'Mr Biggin' his contribution to getting people into Aviation is incalculable.
