Good skills, Skytrain!
Yes, this is part of an aircraft (one that only concerns itself with the troposphere!). Looking at an engine? If it's not on a pylon then by definition it must be integral Not being obstructive - you'll understand my answers when things slot into place. ;) |
I did toy with this idea yesterday. Spaceship One
|
Sorry, Harley, you're thinking along the wrong lines there.
I'll try to answer Skytrain a little better: Part of the image shows part of an engine. An engineer would tell you that the whole thing is not an engine. |
Astazou to you tooo.... off a Wetdream or a Gazelle...OH if correct...
|
Gesundheit!
Sycamore has it... :ok: ...the intake and reduction gearbox on an Astazou (on a Jetstream, as it happens). You can see one in situ about half-way down this page of smashing photos: Latest News Open House is declared. |
OK, I'm struggling to reconcile the sharply swept fairing centre left of the challenge, could you show the uncropped image please?
|
This should help:
http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/.../7Feb20123.jpg I didn't get to know the aircraft well enough to find out the purpose of the fairing; thinking about it, it probably carries the harness for the propeller deicing. There's one on each engine in the one o'clock position (viewed from the rear). |
Brilliant, thank you, I can see it is the reduction gearbox now.
|
|
Is this the cooling intake for a de Havilland inverted engine or an outlet for an exhaust?
|
Evening Harley.
It's the outlet for a ducted fan. Japanese motor-glider. (Found it while looking for Ken's motor-glider on SC) |
Thought that one was supposed to be Argentinian?
|
I'm was searching for motor-gliders in general.
Thought that one was supposed to be Argentinian? Mine above is Japanese. |
Found a side view that might match up; Nippi NP100A?

This may not be a good pic:

This may not be a good pic: Polikarpov I-153, according to the caption... http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/9582/img438.jpg |
Good shooting, the I153DM with two gasoline fuelled ramjets under the wings.

Looks like the Adam A.700 AdamJet?

Thanks Graeme:ok: Keeping to a similar theme, here's the next one:

Embraer Phenom 300?
|
The Phenom it is Karl:ok: This one is actually the 100 series.

|
G'day Karlark. On a pylon, on a wing? Russian?
|
'evening Noyade.
Yes, 2X pylon mounted on the wings. Not Russian, though. Edit: think business aircraft. :) |
Morning Karlark,
Lunchtime swoop from me too! Avtek 400 ?? Open House if correct please as I'm back to work too :) |
You have it correct TC :ok:. The prototype Avtec 400.

Update of Engine Inlet-Exhaust Challenge List 09 Feb 2012
The Engine Inlet-Exhaust List has been updated up to and including 09 Feb 2012.

How about:
http://i1113.photobucket.com/albums/...eb20124_hf.jpg Same cautions apply as did to my previous challenge here! |
Seeing a small turbojet or loww bypass turbofan here. The curvature of the intake lip and its lack of depth before the blades makes me think its a fairly low speed aircraft, possibly even rotary wing, but I'm not sure if that white blob is a wing tip in about the 11 o'clock position. Did wonder if it was mounted in the wing but inclined to think its pylon mounted.
Small late 20th century biz jet |
Hello Harley,
I'll break your hypotheses down, if I may...
|
I'm not a masochist so yes please.
|
By all means.
Number 2 is correct. Don't forget the word of caution!!! |
So, it's unequivocally not:
a small turbojet or low bypass turbofan rotary wing a wing tip in about the 11 o'clock position pylon mounted Small biz jet |
Unequivocally, as you say...

Update of Engine Inlet-Exhaust Challenge List 09 Feb 2012 Would anyone on this thread care to thank Mel......................????? |
I did so on another thread, but am very happy to do so here as well; hope not to be considered rude for not including thanks in my first post after his update...
Thanks Mel! :ok: |
