That is the Breda BA.88 Linse!
RR has requested Open House. |
There is some very "bomber pilot" silhouetting going on here!!!!
The fin/rudder............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After all my tutorial work Reg, you still miss things.:= That sounds interesting David, so why not post it? I have deleted it from my portfolio sleeve. :) |
Abend Reg,
I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one to conduct a review of the search method/keywords one has used used and how to find the answers :8!! skytrain's last was indeed a good Challenge!! This on the other hand, won't last long I fear, after checking Mels list and not finding it, I've dug a little deeper and realised it isn't so good as I'd hoped! http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/.../TC_wtf152.jpg Off home now and as line is reported better now, I should be back online in about 20mins, by which time it'll be gone :) (the challenge, not my line)!! |
Back on patrol and it's still here :ooh:!!
|
The fin/rudder............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Sorry if my lousy silhouetting prevented you from winning this challenge http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ilies/evil.gif http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ilies/evil.gif http://images.ibsrv.net/ibsrv/res/sr...ilies/cool.gif I just feel that if we are going to do real silhouettes, then they ought to be accurate. I have seen phrases such as "sorry, I forgot to do this" and "I missed this bit" and " not sure from the image where this goes". If images are not accurate, then people start typing misleading phrases into the web. It's probably about time for my retirement. Nacht / night. |
Guys, one of things I said in my "guidelines" is that this should be for fun. The day we take it seriously is the day we should stop. We all make errors converting pictiures to silhouettes - it's called human error. We are ALL guilty of that. So let's show some tolerance.
Back to the challenge...familiar but can't place it...I'm guessing American? Somewhat Kitfox'ish....but the undercarriage is wrong. |
Thanks mate.
Therefore, as an  ole, I bow out. :ok: |
Evening Ken :),
You're right there on all counts and it's a Yank too :ok: Only for the night I hope Mate! I'm sure that Reg's comment was intended to be humerous :) |
Thanks Trevor...so Kitfox'ish....is there any connection?
Edit to say have even found a Kitfox with the same undercarriage! |
No connection with Kitfox that I'm aware of!
|
Mate,
My apologies for sounding patronising. Not intended :). From the substance of your message I will try to learn, from the emoticons I will pick above all the ;), which I take seriously. Good night; I will retire now, too. See you Mate, and you other gents, tomorrow. |
Nite Reg,
Sleep well :ok: |
The Szaraz Daphne maybe?
|
I'm afraid it's not that, but it certainly looks very similar, mine has parallel struts though and is quite a bit earlier, although you may have seen this one too and I'm sure you know its designer's name ;)
|
So looking at a 1950's design?
Edit, well its heading towards midnight here so going to have to call it a day. Won't be around much tomorrow so I'll leave it up to the night shift to work it out. Good night. |
I did say quite a bit earlier, it was in fact pre-war!
I might venture that there is a "personal" connection to your last challenge! You'll kick yourself when this one (or its designer) is identified!! |
Bugger, wish you hadn't said that...it's got me looking again!
Personal connection....well I guess that's Oshkosh, which got me looking at Wittman designs, amongst others, but nothing there...:ugh:. Unfortunately with a connection speed under 100 kbps it is frustratingly slow...so a proper search of Aerofiles is out of the question.....:( |
The personel connection is correct (sorry to hear that your internet one isn't) :) !!
This aircraft is in the EAA AirVenture Museum, so you've probably seen it, and the reason you've been there is because the local airport manager was responsible for the EAA coming to Oshkosh and the airport now bears his name, as did your last post. Take another look at his works!! I wouldn't bother with Aerofiles though as there's no piccie, which is why I thought it may be worth using. Wiki would be better this time (but still no picture :) There was a replica built early this century (coo that sound odd doesn't it)!! |
G'day Graeme :),
|
Got there, the Wittman Buttercup?
If so will have to be Open House as need to get some sleep. |
Well done Ken,
That's the one, the Wittman Buttercup :D. I'm pretty certain that apart from the lousy connection speed, the need for sleep hampered your search. Sleep well. http://i1138.photobucket.com/albums/...nButtercup.jpg skytrain has requested an Open House :ok: |
|
Cheers Trevor. You are right of course, I have seen it. The fuselage shape is remarkably similar to the Kitfox, or perhaps I should say the Kitfox is remarkably similar to the Buttercup!
Morning Graeme....and good night  |
Nice looking plane for 1938. |
Yes it was a looker for that time. You off to work soon? I'm gonna hit the hay shortly as I've got another early start tomorrow!
Cheers mate and have a good day, catchya later :ok: |
You off to work soon? |
Not yet...still looking for the heaviest single-engined prop-driven aircraft.... Happy hunting! I'm off to  ZZzzzzzz. Cheers |
|
Morning, Reg!
Mmmh... deja vu. Contra-rotating... nose shape... It is German..? |
Morning HP!
Affirmative to all. |
Morning gents. :)
Focke-Wulf 802....? |
That one I was looking at...
Focke-Wulf FW Fighter Project w/ BMW 802 engine Luft '46 entry :ouch:... Even though I think it's the BMW P.8011 powered version. the other one is single prop (and that's why I couldn't find it in Lepage...) |
Well mate, I was hunting for a Messerschmitt variant of the 209 and the Focke-Wulf just popped up! Ain't Google fun! :)
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/838...5988406558.jpg |
Funny, I was thinking the same, like "Messerschmitt-style triangular tail"... :hmm:
|
If correct...open house.
I'm off to watch "Ed Wood" starring Johnny Depp. Ed Wood is regarded as Hollywood's worst director and was responsible for what is to some as the worlds worst movie..."Plan 9 From Outer Space". There is a scene in that movie of an aircraft being attacked by flying saucers. Here is the cockpit scene. Good for a WC challenge?! :) http://img809.imageshack.us/img809/2...ike0532149.jpg Cheers. |
Focke-Wulf 802 Graeme has requested Open House. HP, ready, steady, ….. PS Greame: This aircraft in the movie must be a FBW. They even seem to have a wire telephone :ok: |
PS Greame |
Were you callin' me, Reg? :)
For the lurkers. Nice, easy, and a beautiful hot-rod red on top of the deal. ...sleeve depleted! :} http://img849.imageshack.us/img849/3711/scchallenge.jpg Have fun... |
Hi HP, saw you logged in.
I looked at the FW 802 thing, and it seems that you were right: the counter-rotating one was the FW project using BMW P.8011 engine. My source is a piece of artwork, and it was labeled as 802, as it seems to be labeled also elsewhere, on some quiz pages, too. Ach, good, a challenge! Good grief :ooh: Wotsat? Kind of RAM generator test? |
