I will be engaged in domestic activities for a few hours now, so it must be OH, if mine was correct.

Lightning Mate 3rd Aug 2011 18:15

Well, it was almost.

Enough to give you a win.

RD has requested Open House.

Lightning Mate 3rd Aug 2011 18:16

Ken,

Acquire - lock - launch.................;)

I will be engaged in domestic activities for a few hours now
Don't be silly - you're too old...:E:E

skytrain10 3rd Aug 2011 18:40

As it's OH, here's one to think about:

Noyade 3rd Aug 2011 20:32

Evening Ken. Saw your light on and just popped in to say g'day and to tell I have no idea, yet, but it looks like you could cut your hand on that leading edge. :)

Trevor usually pops in later. :)

skytrain10 3rd Aug 2011 20:57

G'day Graeme...unfortunately the resolution on the original image was poor so the silhouetted version as edited in Paint is not good.

Hope all is well with you mate?

I'll be closing down soon....2255 here, so I'll wish you a good day. May catch you later.

Cheers

Edit to say....managed to improve the image a bit!

Lightning Mate 4th Aug 2011 07:16

Good morning Ken.

I can't fathom the rough looking engine nacelles above the wing.

Are we looking at pistons or turboprops? :\

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 07:21

Good morning, gentlemen! :)

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 07:22

Morning David. Each engine appears to have twin exhausts which because of the positioning of the engines are actually above the wing. The angle of the original photo makes them appear as bumps. Pistons.

Lightning Mate 4th Aug 2011 07:29

Thanks Ken..........:eek::eek:

Morning Reg.

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 07:36

Harbin Y-11

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 07:37

Morning Reg...not the Harbin Y-11.

Lightning Mate 4th Aug 2011 07:39

Was this exhaust design of the "augmenter" type to give slight extra thrust, or simply so that the corrosive exhaust gasses were kept clear of the wing and flaps?

An experimental Convair design?

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 07:44

Not sure on the reasons for the design David and no mention of such in what limited information I have found. Not a Convair.

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 07:47

what limited information
Whhoooppss! :eek::eek::eek:

That's what I was afraid of :*

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 07:51

Plenty of photo's on the web :)

Lightning Mate 4th Aug 2011 07:57

Just a question of the right words then.

Except that I can't find them!!

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 08:03

Going to be offline for a while.
To help you along, a 1960's design, just the one built as far as I can gather. Still flying today.

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 10:32

Any connection to SIAI?

Edit: Hold it!

Found a picture of an Aero Commander with two exhausts above the wing. Retracted gear, though…...

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 11:33

I'm back.

No connection with SIAI, or Italy or Europe come to that!

Aero Commander...clearly not, but you are in the right place :ok:

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 11:41

but you are in the right place
Not lately….. I was in Australia looking for fixed-gear high-wing Lycoming O twins and found some. Not the correct ones, I am afraid :ooh:.

Starting to lose steam (pooh). Is there a picture in the Aerofiles? And is the engine a Lyco?

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 12:14

No picture in Aerofiles Reg. Lycoming engines. Offline for a while again...will check in again when its coffee time.

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 12:21

I am off, too. Cannot bear the thought of TC stomping in and saying "Just grabbing a coffee. That is Zap Zap, Model Zip. Gotta go, see you." :*

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 14:27

Well its coffee break, but there's no one around!
http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...r/ce7cb560.jpg

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 14:29

Lurking. Say something.

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 14:32

Hi Reg....been a lot of reference to coffee hasn't there? Yet no sign of TC.

SincoTC 4th Aug 2011 14:34

That's right Ken it is the time, but I wasn't going to mention it)!!

I will mention the Wickham B of 1967 though, (sorry Reg) :)

Have to be an Open House I'm afraid, as it's back to work now . I hope my home connection works tonight, tried everything last night and it wouldn't stay connected for more than a few seconds!

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 14:41

Of course you're right Trevor. It is the Wickham B from 1967. A one off machine, still flying today (and I have seen it in the flesh, so to speak). Good research and well done :ok:.
I don't know if the subtle clues assisted you, but it kept me amused anyway - the designer is from Seattle, home of a well known coffee company!

http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...r/71b28041.jpg

SincoTC has control.

Whoops, correction, its Open House

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 14:41

:{ :{ :{ :{ :* :* :{ :{ :suspect: :suspect: :\ :\ :( :( :O

Gone.

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 14:46

I don't think Reg is too happy Trevor :)

SincoTC 4th Aug 2011 14:50

Thanks Ken, I didn't pick up on the "Coffee" clues, just trying different search criteria on AF, drew a blank at lunch, but as LM said, it was a matter of choosing the right words just now!

Shame I have to go now too :*

Lightning Mate 4th Aug 2011 15:17

Reg wasn't the only one working on it - I agree with him!!!!

Excellent challenge. :ok:

I've got one which is even worse, with almost no information on it except a picture.

I will not post it therefore. Going home - bye.

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 15:43

Not sulking skytrain, TC and Mate :). Just went for groceries.

Need to backtrack and see what would have been the correct search string. Called a Lessons Learned Session (although some call it post-mortem :uhoh:).

Great challenge. Looked so trivial, which doubles the frustration.

Edit: Now that I know what it is, I get it with exactly those words that I tried before. I'd make a good journalist. Perfect 20/20 hindsight.

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 16:18

Glad you liked the challenge! I found it whilst going through some photo's that I took during one of my visits to Oshkosh.

I've got one which is even worse, with almost no information on it except a picture.
That sounds interesting David, so why not post it?

Anyone going to take up the OH.....Reg?

Ridge Runner 4th Aug 2011 16:23

Well its coffee break, but there's no one around!
Oh dear, mate, Starbucks!!!!! :(

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 16:25

Evening RR..how's the trip?

RegDep 4th Aug 2011 16:35

Coming up….

Italian? A Lince?

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...Breda_Ba88.jpg Edit: OH if correct!

skytrain10 4th Aug 2011 16:54

Unfortunately have to go soon....is it French?

Ridge Runner 4th Aug 2011 16:58

Evening RR..how's the trip?
Hi Ken!!! Good mate, thanks. Off home in the morning. Bloody sticky here so can't come too soon!!!
