Ridge Runner 22nd Aug 2011 11:25

'ello all!

Was it a glider intended to have a pilot or a glide-bomb?

skwinty 22nd Aug 2011 11:27

Here is the original Dewoitine D520 from earlier.

Aha I see a stinker from Lightning Mate. Let me look see.

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 11:28

Is there an engine pod somewhere or is this a sailplane?

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 11:28

Just a manned glider - not a bomb.

skwinty 22nd Aug 2011 11:34

Fairchild G-78?

Correction E-78

Noyade 22nd Aug 2011 11:34

Bracing wires? That would seriously date this...early 20's?

(Nice model skwinty! :))

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 11:40

Fairchild G-78?
Correction E-78
Not a Fairchild.

Off for 30 minutes.

skwinty 22nd Aug 2011 11:47

Kokusai Ku-7 Manazuru ("White-naped Crane"; Allied code-name Buzzard)

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 12:25

Kokusai Ku-7 Manazuru
No mate, that was a large troop glider. This is a small 2 seat trainer, but you're very close..........

skwinty 22nd Aug 2011 12:34

Fukuda Ku-5 Army Two-seat Training Glider?

Pictures are hard to find.:*

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 12:40

Not that either mate.

There are no known photos of this machine, but it is available as a 3-view and one profile colour drawing. Both are on the web.

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 12:46

I think yours is Maeda Ku-1…..

I know, that was a troop transport, but the 3-view ……

Ach ja, about 100 of Maeda-built Ku-1-I Type 2 were used for training…..

HappyPass 22nd Aug 2011 12:51

Was looking at the same, Reg, but
1) it would have been a repeat
2) it carries 6 to 8
3) photo is even on aviastar

Correction: that seems to be the one, good shooting, Reg :ok:

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 12:54

Nicely done Reg. :D

Over to you. :ok:

Would anyone want the full 3-view?

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 12:55

Was this the one in Aviastar?

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/...22um150346.png

HappyPass 22nd Aug 2011 12:56

Nope, but it is similar to the lower one.

http://img594.imageshack.us/img594/6671/maedaku1.jpg

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 12:58

That's because it is the lower one.

HappyPass 22nd Aug 2011 13:00

That's because it is the lower one.
Plane yes, photo no (slightly different angle)

skwinty 22nd Aug 2011 13:03

That one was a stinker.:E

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 13:04

....but not the stinker I intended.......

HappyPass 22nd Aug 2011 13:04

He he... true, skwinty!
I was even looking at Russian ones...wire bracing and all...

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 13:06

My humble contribution to stinkies and funny-looking pushers, both in demand today, I have seen….

http://i1103.photobucket.com/albums/...gDep/gy2-1.jpg

Ridge Runner 22nd Aug 2011 13:08

German, REg?

HappyPass 22nd Aug 2011 13:09

WTF, I've seen this one!
What was it...

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 13:12

It's the Wibault Gyrotor :)

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 13:12

Not German, RR

Maybe today, HP

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 13:15

It's the Wibault Gyrotor
Yes, it is :ok:

There is little information about exactly what Michel Wibault did during the 1945-55 period working for several U.S. aviation companies, but at least one of his peculiar aircraft designs from 1948 is known. A strange rear-pusher aircraft!
You back home for the REAL stinker Mate?

HappyPass 22nd Aug 2011 13:17

Maybe today, HP
No, 'twas in me bookmarks... :ugh:
http://discaircraft.greyfalcon.us/S.htm
Well done, Mate! :ok:

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 13:30

You back home for the REAL stinker Mate?
No - I'm in the office.

Gimme less than five minutes.

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 13:31

HP, I found it today when Giggling Graeme's challenge using string 'ugly pusher aircraft' or the likes.

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 13:34

It is (or was) already in my sleeve!

Let's go modern.....

http://i636.photobucket.com/albums/u..._29/narwun.jpg

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 13:35

The aircraft next to it is Czech…..

Ridge Runner 22nd Aug 2011 13:36

European, at a guess, David?
Or is the Czech a/c to the right a red herring?

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 13:45

It is European Martin, but the other aeroplane is a smelly red fish.

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 13:49

but the other aeroplane is a smelly red fish
Because it is of the same type as the challenge, but in Check register?

Lightning Mate 22nd Aug 2011 13:52

I do not know if it's the same type as the challenge. All I can see is the fin.

Check out the cars......

RegDep 22nd Aug 2011 13:58

Check out the cars......
Eastern Europe…..

Ridge Runner 22nd Aug 2011 13:58

THe cars are either UK seventies or East European of the nineties?
