Luftwaffe gun sight, or?
I've tried Googling for this but I must be using the wrong terms or just be way off on what I think it is...
I noticed that on a later model Ju-87 that there was a transparent area behind the rear gunners position seemingly flush to the fuselage. Circular. Actually noticed it on a kit th' lad was building. I've seen similar on other late war German aircraft so I thought it might be some kind of gunsight. But I can't find anything to explain what it is. This link to another model site shows the area I'm talking about: Junkers Ju 87G-2 Tankbuster by Brett Green (Hasegawa 1/48) I'm confident someone on here will know what it is. Cheers. |
G'day mate, not sure if this is what you're looking at but according to a cutaway it's a circular plexiglass access panel to the Peil G IV D/F equipment.
Good luck with your model mate..... sorry, I meant your son's model! ;) Cheers Graeme. http://img574.imageshack.us/img574/997/this.jpg |
If it was my model I'd have set fire to it or shot it to bits with an air rifle.
Ta very much - I can now find out wtf the Peil G IV D/F equipment does. Cheers. |
It's a direction finding unit. It's not a death ray. How terribly disappointing.
