Not wishing to reopen any debate about the rights and wrongs of the event, it is an anniversary that seems to have slipped below the media (and therefore everybody else) radar.
Today is the 65th anniversary of the first deployment of nuclear weapons. It is estimated that 70000 - 80000 civilians died immediately and a further 70000 suffered injuries. This was the beginning of the era of WMD. |
