I think there's one at Pima Air Museum, AZ.

NMRL

Edit:

Pima Air Museum - Douglas Globemaster II

Thought I'd seen one.

They sounded nice when they flew over - I saw a couple in Singapore in the 1960s.

It was about that time that I saw a vic of 3 Sunderland flying boats doing a flyby at RAF Tengah. THAT sounded and looked better than just about any other flyby I've ever seen.

Nostalgia is not what it used to be :D

I travelled in one from McGuire AFB, New Jersey to Europe in 1961. My log book shows McGuire to Harmon AFB, Newfoundland 4hours 25m, Harmon to Lajes 7hours 40m, Lajes to Wiesbaden 9hours 10m.

Apart from size and the spaciousness of the cockpit the only thing that really impressed me was the Flight Engineer's station and the engine analyser that constantly monitored the health of the engines.

I shot some 8mm cine film of this trip and the screen-grab below gives some idea of how far it was from the top of the fuselage to the top of the wing, with a further drop to the gound below.

Back in 1990 53-0044/N3153F was preserved outside the airport at Las Vegas - painted a pale blue color.

Got a picture somewhere- will try to find it.

In the 60s...C-124s were regulars along the South coast ORTAC/IBSLEY/MIDHRST or LND - IBSLEY ,e/rte to Mildenhall ..often 5 or 6 a day... at night you could here them coming several minutes before they went overhead.

(BTW the IBSLEY VOR no longer there ...but was at approx 50 52 30N/01 46 53W just to the east of Ibsley Airfield)

Saw loads of them as a kid spotter when I lived not too far from EPM. They'd route Lydd, 7Oaks, Epsom, WOD, Green 1. Also saw loads at Mildenhall and various other US bases. Here is a pic I took long ago:

Here you go. I believe originally it was supposed to be turned into a restaurant.

:{ Alas
she is no longer ,i remember seeing a recent photo of her being broken up as they were about to build a hotel on the site she occupied.

That C-124 sat just north of the airport for years and years. I flew into Las Vegas a lot in the past and always noticed it sitting there slowly rotting away. Then one day I landed and it was gone.

From what I understand the aircraft was scraped.
