Wellesbourne curiosity

At the western edge of Wellesbourne airfield roughly midway between the control tower and the Vulcan there appears to be a dilapidated full size replica of a Spitfire.

Does anyone out there know what it is and the story behind it?

It is a fibreglass replica of a Spitfire made, I beleive, for the Battle of Britain film. It has been there quite a long time, but the wings have been fitted in the last few months.

Thanks, I wondered about that but it seems to have been given a starboard radiator like a Mk IX, anachronistic for 1940. Not that I can think of any other films it might have been for.
