Thats the one ! You have control Noyade.

Noyade 25th Jun 2009 07:06

Thanks. You're right, obscure aircraft in silhouette form are hard to find. I'm having to go with a line drawing this time.

one11 25th Jun 2009 08:09

Looks like a Kawasaki KAL-2. Open house if thats right.

Noyade 25th Jun 2009 08:36

Not the KAL-2, but it is Kawasaki.

OBAman 25th Jun 2009 13:02

I reckon on the Kawasaki KAT-1 then as that was a trainder. Ironically I was looking at these Kawa's myself the other day so if I'm right my next silhouette will be from the same book.

evansb 25th Jun 2009 13:23

Here is a KAT-1.
http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...40/KAT-1-1.jpg

OBAman 25th Jun 2009 17:49

If that is a yes, then here is my next one

carson1934 25th Jun 2009 19:51

IAe-22DL from Argentina?
carson1934

OBAman 25th Jun 2009 21:42

Yes indeed Carson, well spotted. Incidentally I noticed that this silhouette I posted is from the exact same book as the Sikumbank was. Or at least the silhouette was by the Same man, Gerald Pollinger. What a coincidence!

carson1934 25th Jun 2009 22:00

Since Obaman says that my previous guess is correct I'm taking the liberty of submitting this new challenge (if you can see it)...
carson1934https://www.pprune.org/

Noyade 25th Jun 2009 22:17

Sorry Carson, can't see it, but reception at the bottom of the world is usually bad.

To OBAman;

I reckon on the Kawasaki KAT-1
I'm a little late in proceedings, but spot on with the KAT-1 and evans photo was the same I planned on downloading.

OBAman 25th Jun 2009 23:25

This is Carsons image;

http://i40.tinypic.com/6xuvpd.gif

Strangely reminiscent in plan of the Supermarine 328 it is obviously not that, is it Yugoslavian?

evansb 26th Jun 2009 01:13

Did the design leave the drawing board ?

Noyade 26th Jun 2009 04:55

This is Carsons image;
Many thanks OBAman! For some reason Carson's post remains imageless down here.

Unfortunately mate I'm none the wiser! I was thinking of some Soviet project to militarise the Grigoriovich DG-55 or a Polish PZL project.

carson1934 26th Jun 2009 08:43

This isn't a paper plane....the prototype was almost ready but it was probably destroyed by its own hands to avoid capture by advancing hostile troops...besides its model is to be found in a museum.....This is a big clue isnt'it?
carson1934

A further clue, projected by eng. Lubomir Ilic and others in 1938. It was to be powered by two Hispano Suiza H38/39 and model was successfully tested in wind tunnel (I believe tests took place in France) but almost ready prototype destroyed to avoid capture as said.

carson1934 28th Jun 2009 13:51

I don't think it is fair to keep this forum in abeyance and to prevent other members from making their own moves.
The aircraft relating to my post #2175 is the Ikarus IK-5 and a description may be found on airwar.ru which is obviously only in russian but as you know a (bad) translation can be obtained immediately.
Also a model is to be found in the aviation museum at Belgrade.
I'll probably be gone for a couple of days therefore....open house
Cheers

OBAman 29th Jun 2009 13:32

An unbuilt project Noyade? Top image looks like an Antonov An 10 with low wings. Isd it related at all?

one11 29th Jun 2009 13:38

Top image looks like an Antonov An 10 with low wings
...while the 3 view is much like a SNCASE Armagnac.

Noyade 29th Jun 2009 22:08

Hmm...poor choice of image for a jump start? Asystole.

It's suppose to be the Armagnac.

http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/2726/armu.jpg

All yours one11.

one11 30th Jun 2009 09:18

Thanks Noyade . Now if the mods would allow a "What is this supposed to be ....." thread then your Armagnac artist would provide a candidate , as would the perpetrator of this "Comet"
http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/u...une0107art.jpg

But you can't be too hard on them when a real aircraft designer produced this....

...................Doug

Noyade 30th Jun 2009 10:50

Doug is that the Aerocentre N.C. 3020 Belphegor which we had in Mel's Post #2151? Or have I been suckered by a look-a-like?

(Actually I kinda like that Comet. Thanks for posting that.:ok:)

one11 30th Jun 2009 11:05

oh dear - i checked the list of old postings but not the last few pages......althgough the obsessives might say it was a 3021 as actually built with the coupled Daimler - Benz Engines !!!! I was enthused by having found an obscure B&W silhouette. Back to you then Noyade.............Doug

Lightning Mate 30th Jun 2009 11:20

I have been looking hard also.
If you look at the fin, it is not the same as in post 2151 by Mel, but this recent one looks the same as in photographs.

Noyade 30th Jun 2009 12:14

Ok. I just pulled the designation from an old "Jane's Pocket Book" (12) Research and Experimental Aircraft. It doesn't mention the 3021.

Anyway, here's another...

Looks a lot like a Douglas Cloudster...............

Noyade 1st Jul 2009 21:59

Nicely done one11. A Cloudster it is.

Yours again.

one11 2nd Jul 2009 08:26

Open house as I 'll be offline for a few days.

carson1934 2nd Jul 2009 15:18

Since One11 has declared open house, I'd like to ptopose following challenge if anybody can miraculously see it....
carson1934

MReyn24050 2nd Jul 2009 17:07

Maule M-7?

carson1934 2nd Jul 2009 21:09

Less than two hours to guess...that's a record...you lead the game
carson1934

Noyade 2nd Jul 2009 21:15

Probably a good idea to remove the caption first Carson.

Next Challenge

Thank you carson1934, I will be honest although your image was only 112 x 200 pixels on my PC I did take a stab at "Maule" as I thought that might be one of the words in the script that accompanied your image. Hence the question mark in my reply.
Here is the next one the silhouette was magically produced for me by Lightning Mate from a three view line drawing.
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...ettequiz54.jpg

carson1934 3rd Jul 2009 10:26

You're right Noyade silly of me, I just rushed the image through without paying due attention...

Kharkov KhAI-1?

carson1934 3rd Jul 2009 10:31

No need to apologize MReyn next time I'll be more careful.
But tell me you mention "Lightning mate", is there a way to transform line drawings into silhouettes? I'd appreciate a PM on the subject.
BTW your post #2199, is it US made?
Cheers
carson1934

Or maybe Neman KhAI-1 (1932), if it isn't the same?

MReyn24050 3rd Jul 2009 11:53

Mel's Challenge

Sorry carson1934 Noyade has just beaten you to it. It is the Kharkov KhAI-1 which was in fact designed by Neman. Carson1934 please see PM.
Kharkov KhAI-1 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Noyade you have control.
Mel

Noyade 3rd Jul 2009 21:54

Thanks Mel. Was the line drawing/silhouette transformation from Gunston's Russian Aircraft? Reason I ask is I noticed a number of important details seem to be lost in the process, nevertheless it's an impressive process. (I've sent you a PM)

Photo/silhouette.

Hi Noyade, could this be the Handley Page Type G.

Well. yes it could, but is it?
