Hello Carson1934 -- how is it in Arezzo? FYI, I can easily see both your relatively small images. Off the top of my head, it looks like an I.M.A.M. design without the NACA cowling.

(= Salve Carson1934 -- che si dice ad Arezzo? Per tua informazione, posso scaricare facilmente ambedue le tue relativamente piccole immagini. Ad occhio mi sembra un disegno della I.M.A.M., senza la NACA)

carson1934 12th Jun 2009 20:20

Hello Vonbag,
No it's not italian and of course not IMAM but it's still european...
In Arezzo everything almost OK but can't really complain!
I can't help being flummoxed by the fact that out of two images I can't see one and you can see both!. I discovered that my PC works well with imageshack and has a disgust for photobucket.
Try again and good luck to you
carson

Rather than "disgust" I would say "repulsion" or "hidiosyncrasy" etc.

Noyade 12th Jun 2009 23:08

The Hungarian AVIS I maybe?

carson1934 13th Jun 2009 10:33

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/3039/avis1i.jpg
Yes Noyade spot on!
It is the Anderlik Varga AVIS I a hungarian biplane of 1933 powered by a Bristol Jupiter VI which drove him to a maximum speed of 280/kmh.
Only one prototype was built because, being underpowered, the FIAT CR/32 was ordered in lieu thereof.
Congratulations
carson1934:ok::ok::ok:
It's your turn....

vonbag 13th Jun 2009 15:29

Carson1934, congratulations to you on the intriguing challenge and to Noyade to have solved it.
Regarding the image host, did you ever consider "www.tinypic.com"? It works always good for me, in more than 99% of the cases.
Then again, I have my own web-space (and web-site) as a simple alternative.
On the just past challenge: it is unbelievable, I had that three sides view of the Hungarian biplane Aircraft right under my nose, this notwithstanding I didn't recognise it :uhoh:

Waiting for the next from Noyade!

carson1934 13th Jun 2009 18:46

Hello Vonbag,
your comments are always helpful and intelligent!
Concerning image hosting I think that finally "imageshack" works OK for me (whilst "Photobucket" is a catastrophe, donět ask me why) however I will try for sure the web site you kindly gave me.
Now let's wait for Noyade's challenge (I hope it isn't a sport plane again or an executive).
Ciao
carson1934:ok::ok::ok:

P.S. Look up your PM's please

Noyade 13th Jun 2009 21:06

Sometimes lucky hunches do pay off! Thanks Carson.

Now let's wait for Noyade's challenge (I hope it isn't a sport plane again or an executive).
How about this then? An "Observers" silhouette...

irishair2001 14th Jun 2009 07:27

:ok:Potez 840 ,Which was supposed to be built in Ireland ,but the project was scrapped ,with only one prototype ever flying

Noyade 14th Jun 2009 09:42

Sorry irishair2001, but not the Potez 840 and not French. This was an American project (but never flew) from the early eighties.

MReyn24050 14th Jun 2009 11:37

The Commuter Aircraft Corporation's CAC-100 perhaps?

Noyade 14th Jun 2009 11:54

Sure is Mel.

All yours.

MReyn24050 14th Jun 2009 12:51

Next Challenge

Thanks Noyade, it was the intended powerplant that gave it away, the P&W PT6.
Here is the next one, not a silhouette I am afraid as there has not been one published for this unique aircraft.

It looks french to me.
Their industry was specialized in one-off's..maybe with a small clue?
carson1934:ugh::ugh:

MReyn24050 14th Jun 2009 18:47

Not french was said to offer genuine STOL performance without the customary inflation of operating costs. First flew late 1960s.

chiglet 14th Jun 2009 20:14

Looks like a cross between the Haker Siddely/Avro146 and Shorts 360...with a bit of Blackburn thrown in.....

Looks like a cross between the Hawker Siddely/Avro146 and Shorts 360...with a bit of Blackburn thrown in.....
However it was not British.

The Sunrise S-1600 Areion. An American project that started in 1964?

OBAman 14th Jun 2009 21:37

Hello, new member here with my first post. As I understand it I can guess and then, if correct, post a silhouette of my own. Is that right?

Only I reckon the previous one looks very close to the US Sunrise S-1600 of 1969?

edit; looks like I should have just got on with it :D

MReyn24050 15th Jun 2009 00:02

Sorry OBAman you were just pipped at the post by Noyade as it is indeed the Sunrise S-1600 Areion. :ok:
However your understanding is correct whoever identifies the aircraft first posts the next challenge.

The Sunrise S-1600 was an American STOL short-haul transport aircraft first flown in 1968. The Sunrise S-1600 was produced in three models: the Sunrise S-1600P carried 24 passengers; the Sunrise S-1600C was a cargo transport version and the Sunrise S-1600S was a high-density commuter transport version with accommodation for 30 passengers. The Sunrise S-1600 was a high-wing cantilever monoplane powered by two AiResearch TPE-331 or Pratt and Whitney PT-6 turboprop engines providing a top speed of 531 kmh and a range of 1205 km fully laden.

Unfortunately I do not have a photograph of the aircraft.

Noyade has control.
Mel
