Sounds of Nostalgia

Does anyone have a sound file of a TSR-2 or even perhaps a Javelin.
I had one once upon a time of a mass Javelin flypast at Seletar I think but it got lost in a confuser crash.

Got a Jav wav (did you see what I did there eh?) not sure how to host a wav on here though. Can Email it to you David, if you PM me your address?

In a similar vein, I lost a marvelous wav file of a Spit doing a couple of low passes, with no airshow commentary etc. It was "given" to me by someone on Prune a few years back anybody got it, know of it?

(Doing a google on spitfire .wav gets numerous hits on an audio company who produce wavs and some sort of amplifier called a Spitfire).:{

Is it possible to host it on Photobucket or similar Gainesy? If so, just post a link. Or email it ter me and I'll have a pop ...

Hi Gainsey - [email protected] - I have a google account that might let me do something. Shame I haven't got the keys to the old company website :{

For Javelin sounds go to :

Much appreciated.

P.S. A bit of thread creep towards other types Hastings, Beverley, Starfighter, Thunderchief, comet etc etc all equally welcome.

treadigraph 25th Aug 2007 10:10

Here's Gainesy's Javelin audio clip:

Link deleted - try post 15 below...

I've uploaded it to my BT Internet briefcase, then tried the Tiny URL site to bring the link length down - works a treat! Learned a lot today (including how good Javelins sound!), now if I can remember it all!

The AvgasDinosaur 25th Aug 2007 15:06

Sorry Sir,
tried the link all I got was

can't find the server at bcvrf.yahoo.com.

Nightingale v Lancasters

Many years ago I was lucky enough to be listening when the BBC played a sound archive of a nightingale's song during which the first 1000 bomber raid passed over. The sound of all those Merlins (and Bristol Hercules, Pegasus and even P & W possibly) was something else again, and the recording quite moving. I've never heard it again, although it is mentioned in a couple of other web sites. Any one out there know where/if it is available. VMT

treadigraph 25th Aug 2007 16:42

The album "Nightingales and Bombers" by Manfred Mann's Earth Band features almost exactly that, only I believe the bombers in question were supposed to have been Luftwaffe! Recording was made near Reigate.

If you miss the sound of darts try this for your ears.

Tredders,
Getting "can't find the server at bcvrf.yahoo.com" on your last link.

treadigraph 26th Aug 2007 21:51

Dammit, neither can I - have fiddled with it...

Nightingales and Bombers...

Javelin flypast...

Any better for you chaps...?

As for the sounds of nostalgia: Out on a bike ride over Surrey Hills yesterday evening, accompanied by the merry puttering of a Tiger Moth out for a bimble from Redhill. Super, they were taking their time with some left and right orbits....

Tonight, walking across the very lovely Riddlesdown (local common, useful for satellite spotting) when the unmistakable sound of a Merlin tickled my ears. Ah, a Mustang heading westwards, a shiver down my back...

Thank you both for making these all too rare beautiful summer evenings a real treat!

Edited Monday - in case the originals still weren't working for everybody, I have now turned them into proper videos by adding a picture with Movie Maker - and moved them to Google Video. If this doesn't work I'm giving up IT...

ICT_SLB 27th Aug 2007 01:46

Treaders,
Tried both & they're getting redirected/corrupted (at least in N. A.) to a unknown url/porn site. Perhaps a tiny url directed to the website you know is correct would do the trick?

henry crun 27th Aug 2007 03:16

I could not access the tinyurl links, but the ones in post #16 worked fine for me, thanks treaders.

Gainesy 27th Aug 2007 11:45

I think that, in Royal Marine jargon, Treaders is probably threaders by now.:)

The AvgasDinosaur 11th Sep 2007 12:22

Edit when I got home: Ah not Reno, but it might not be long now...

Threaders? It was more like Shredders with those links playing silly bu@@ers...
