Church Broughton--jet Testing

Does anybody know anything about the testing of two jet aircraft on a daily basis at Church Broughton aroung 1943/44? One of them must have been a Meteor.

i thank you

Wasn't Church Broughton used by Rolls Royce for engine testing?

I will check my references.

I have found out that Rolls Royce operated two meteors for engine development at Church Broughton. One aircraft was the Trent engined turboprop meteor which made its first flight from there on 25 Sep 45 flown by Rolls test pilot Eric Greenwood.

Excellent, that nearly ties in with what my mother told me, she was stationed there towards the end of the war. However the date must be incorrect because my mother was back at Fradley by September 45

She told me that the pilot flew both types each day and then retired to the officers mess where he got legless!
