Research help please,
Hi all,
I’m posting to ask for a bit of research help, or to be pointed in the right direction. I recently bought a fountain pen inscribed “J.D Mundy”, and purely out of personal interest I would like to find more information about the man. I believe he was with 83 Sqn during the war, and he appears in the Gazette in Feb ’41 for being awarded a DFC (FO John Douglas Mundy, 41866). That’s the first question, where can I find the actual citation of the DFC? as in the Gazette on 11 Feb ’41 it just says the DFC was awarded. The next mention of Mundy I can find is when he turns up in POW camp as prisoner No.656. which I assume because of the low POW number means he was captured early in the war?. If anyone can help fill in the blanks regarding, the DFC, war service and how he came to be a POW, it would be much appreciated. |
