Any Gannet News

Any updates on any airworthy Gannets.

The T5 last known in Canada, is it to be fixed and what was the issue so serious that it could have been lost in flight if not stopped in Canada for engine trouble.

The aew3 @ North Weald ? Any progress in getting this aloft. (I did also hear another potential airwrthy example was for sale, due to death of part owner. and news on this.

Hi

I believe the T5 that is in Canada has engine problems, and may also be the subject of some sort of legal proceedings.

The AEW-3 at North Weald is XL500 (G-KAEW) owned by Kennet Aviation major work is expected to begin very soon, now that the Seafire has been completed.

The other Gannet you refer to is XA459 this was owned by a family and they were serious about getting it back in the air, sadly the family have had a few deaths and have put the aircraft on sale.

Wheels are moving slowly on the Gannet in Canada.
The plans are still in place to bring her back to the UK!

Wasn't there one in the back garden of a house in Cirencester (visible from the bypass)? Or am I getting it mixed up with a Seamew?
It was over 10 years ago that I saw it!

There was Chevron. It ain't there now though. Think it was sold on rather than scrapped, which is at least something.

Fradu,

Seems very slowly. Any idea what is really happening rather than all the noise?

mitten,

I remember reading somewhere that the plans are definitely still in place to bring her back to the UK, but getting it out depends on 'weather issues' - snow?
I'll see if I can find the original source...

I have seen some recent photos of the aeroplane, and she looks in excellent shape.
