Can these A/c be identified
 

When In corfu way back in the early Eighties I found myself wandering away from the diabolical building that we were supposed to wait in, armed with my trusty Kodak I chanced upon these Biplanes being re-fuelled and made ready for flight, I was busy taking a few piccies when a rather uptight soldier with a rifle told me to "sling ma Hook" so I did, but would like to know what these are , can any of you put a name to them?

Ummmmmm. I would be very careful where you take pictures of aircraft on Greek territory, especially military, they have a habit of locking you up. :eek:

Thank you , yes They do look like Ag Cats, the fact that I watched a load of Greek air force types climb into them and fly of over the range of hills not far from the Corfu Airport would thay be used as trainers ?

Not trainers but more likely used as spotters for forest fires etc plus they would probaly carry small quantities of water to spray any small fires.
I saw these in Kefalonia a year or two ago-which I think are PZL (something or another!) which I would imagine have now replaced the Ag Cats for the same purpose. They were constantly flying around the hills and coastline
and occasionaly joined by a Canadair CL215-which made me assume they were fire spotters.

They are used to perv on the foreign noody sunbathers.

Halcyon, I think those are PZL Dromaders. Greek AF operated Ag Cats on fire duties, that and spraying spotters!:}

They look very much like this one. Which is a Grumman G-164 Ag Cat.

"The AgCat was designed in the mid-1950's for providing agricultural service, and first flew on May 22nd, 1957. In Hellenic service it is primarily used as a crop-duster. All aircraft belong to the 359 ΜΑΕΔΥ that is based in Tatoi/Dekelia, but could be stationed anywhere in the country."

Certainly appear to be Ag Cats. Saw them first up close and personal about 1970 at the Shwizer (sp) company in Elmira New York where they were being manufactured. Very impressive aircraft up close, look like the lineal decendent of the F1F and F2F.
