Shuttleworth Collection Sopwith Pup flies again

The Collection's Sopwith Pup made its first post-restoration display flight yesterday after having made two test flights during the week.

The colour scheme and markings portray a RNAS Beardmore built Pup serving on HMS Manxman during Le Prieur Rocket evaluation trials. She's not flown with the rockets on yet, but that will certainly be something to look forward to. I can imagine that she'll whistle like a set of pan pipes, or perhaps a church organ?

This aeroplane is a real credit to the skills of Andy Preslent and Team who've spent all winter checking her over and re-covering her in this superbly imaginative scheme. She was flown yesterday with great flair and verve by our very own Airbedane.

Absolutely beautiful.

Whilst some may drool over modern miltary hardware shots by MOTF at RIAT they don't stir up my juices half as much as your Pup shots.

Many thanks for sharing..

An early 5th November if you're sitting under an observation balloon.

Excellent Evening Show

Congrats to all those involved in an excellent show on Saturday evening, and by far the best commentary in a long while - an excellent blend of dry subtle humour and immense knowledge about the collection aircraft. Well done to John Gilder!

In the head-on shot, it looks as if the trailing edge of the starboard wing meets the fuselage differently from the port wing.

In fact check out he photo above it.

I think it's just the perspective of the photos.

I think these photos will put your mind at rest
