Lu Zuckerman

Hello everyone,

My father just learned the the leukemia is progressing even with the treatment that he just went through the second around.
F....Sidney is still around, but it will not take what my father has worked so hard to gain, Serenity and calmness with all of this.
Lu is going back home the minute that he will be able.
He wants to have a PRUNE BACH, so I will write his phone # if anyone what to talk to him.
I has great respect for all of you and please pray for him .
His specialist says a few months to go, what does that really mean???? but Lu wants them happy and at home.
It is hard to write this message this morning but I will do what ever Lu wants me to do so he can speak to all of you.
Lu is a great man with serentiy , calmness and I'Ve learned alot from him without him even knowing that he was teaching me.

Keep fighting Lu, give it hell!

I am reeling from an amazing co-incidence.

I saved a docu that was shown last week on Ch5. It was about an Air Transat A330 that ran out of fuel over the Atlantic in 2001 and through great skills the pilots glided to a landing at Lajes in the Azores.

I watched it this morning and left it just about 15 minutes ago.

The events which led to the near disaster were man made by Mx who fitted incompatible parts on a new engine. The pilots made two errors which did contribute to the loss of fuel but two other erroneous readings caused them to believe that the computers were at fault. However, this is not to tell you about something you probably know about.

It is to say that two thirds through the programme the problems created by faulty MX were further explained, very lucidly, by our friend Lu Zuckerman! I think I can say I was a bit gobsmacked  It was a joy to see him and I now know I would recognise him if I ever saw him. He clearly knows his stuff and explained the fault without a hint of blame, just pure cause and effect. Explanations don't get any better.

Good to see you Lu. Give F****** Sydney a good kicking and get better mate.

I am sure we all feel very sad for Lu and his family in view of the latest news from his daughter.

Go for it Lu! Keep on fighting.

I've read your posts with great interest over the past few years, and I'm sure that so have many other Ppruners. So keep 'em coming.

Having read the hilarious stories in the other thread, it’s apparent that Lu must be made of pretty strong stuff if he survived working alongside the likes of “Shaky” (as well as surviving being a “meat bomb”...) – this is the kind of spirit that will confound the specialists.

Get behind thee Sidney you m*****f*****!

:ok:

Lu was on Discovery Channel again just the other night - a repeat of one of the aircraft accident report programmes. He was explaining a technical fault in clear plain language and thats how I'll like to remember him.

He was kind enough to offer a helping hand to me, a stranger, when I needed it. A lovely chap, I'm so very sad to hear that he is in such straights and I can't return the favour. It doesn't seem fair.

I've just gotten off the phone with Lu's wife, and I'm afraid I've got bad news. Lu passed peacefully away this morning at 0920. He was surrounded by his family, as he had wanted.
RIP my friend.

That is a terrible shame. RIP Lu. You made aviation happier for being in it.

Lyne, so sorry to hear this...

RIP Lu. :(

brockenspectre 18th Jul 2005 12:24

Dear Lyne and family of Lu, I am so sorry for your loss - the stories he did manage to pen on PPRuNe were fascinating, funny and a genuine insight in to an era of flying that most of us can only dream about. I hope I won't sound presumptuous by saying that I will miss him.

WG774 18th Jul 2005 14:08

It was a privilege to read Lu's comments and tales. I am very sorry to hear this news. My thoughts go out to you and your family.
